Dear Glover Parents,
What a wonderful start to the 2019/2020 school year. The Glover students are focusing in on the new school year and getting into the school routine. Most all of the students have been here every day and on time! That is terrific. I know many of the students have told me they are coming every day to get a new bicycle at the end of the school year!
Thank you to everyone for following the request to let your child walk himself/herself to class. The students are doing a wonderful job getting where they need to be. I am very proud of the Glover students. Unless you have business in the office, please do not enter the building in the morning. We have set high expectations for the students to follow the Wildcat routines and procedures.

School picture day is Wednesday, October 2, 2019. School pictures are pre-pay, if you want a packet of pictures. All students get their picture taken that day. Packets of pictures are only made for the students who pre-paid. We need to have the money for pictures by 8:00 AM on October 2nd. We do not have change in the office. Please make sure you have the exact change. Also, each child should have their own picture envelope.
Family Literacy Night is a Glover family event on Thursday, October 3rd from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. It is a Schoolwide sponsored event with activities for the whole family. There will be a well-known author, grade level stations, and dinner provided courtesy of The Chapel. A flyer will be coming home soon to make your reservations.
On Thursday evening, September 26, 2019, is the first Interim pick-up this school year. This gives you an idea of how your child is doing thus far in the grading period and what he/she needs to work on. This is an excellent time to meet with the teacher and discuss your child’s work habits in the classroom and if he/she is turning in homework each day. Interim pick-up is from 2:45 – 6:45 PM. Dinner will be served beginning at 4:00 PM compliments of The Chapel. I am looking forward to seeing you on September 26th. Also, if you do not have your log-in to access your child’s grades, you can get that set up that evening. This way you can check for missing assignments and know exactly how your child is doing with grades.
PTA Book Fair begins September 23rd. Your child will be bringing home a flyer listing books available for purchase at the PTA Book Fair. Students have the opportunity to shop and purchase books.
Congratulations to those classrooms that are working hard for perfect attendance! Will your child’s classroom have perfect attendance this week? Our attendance for the week of September 2nd was 95.2%. We are on an awesome path to be above the required 93% by the state. Please make sure your child is at school every day unless they are sick!
Have you updated your child’s Emergency form? We must have an Emergency Form on file in the office for each child with two working telephone numbers. It is disheartening not to be able to reach a parent because of no working numbers and your child is ill. Please call the office if you have a new telephone number or just to make sure we have the correct phone number.
Be Proactive
You’re in Charge
President Abraham Lincoln once said, “People are just about as happy as they make up their mind to be. Being proactive is about choice, and what YOU decide to do with that choice. We all face hundreds of choices every day. And sometimes we choose well and other times we choose poorly. Nevertheless, the choice is yours to make!
Proactive people are a different breed. Proactive people are not easily offended and they take responsibility for their choices. They think before they act, and bounce back when something bad happens. A proactive person always finds a way to make “IT” happen because he or she is focused on the things they can do something about, rather than the things they can’t.
But remember, being proactive doesn’t mean you have to be perfect. The key is to get in the habit of being proactive so you can run on autopilot and not even have to think about it. If you’re choosing to be proactive 20 out of 100 times on average each day, try doing 30 out of 100 today, then 40 out of 100 after that. Never underestimate the huge difference small change can make!
Practice at home:
Do something nice for someone else, without being told.
If someone makes you mad, bite your tongue and walk away.
If you do something wrong, say you are sorry and try to make things right.
The students look so nice in their uniforms. Just a reminder, the students cannot wear their jackets during the school day while they are in the classroom. Today we have four or five students that are out of uniform. Students should be wearing a collared polo shirt every day to school. Students can only wear shorts until October 1st.
